For the Belgian Foundation against cancer, we filmed a whole series of videos about the various researchers who received support from the Cancer Research Foundation for their scientific research.

 

Professor Blanpain and his team can already demonstrate the existence of stem cells for cancer. These could be responsible for tumor growth, but also for tumor resistance to certain treatments. And finally, they could provide clues about why some cancer patients can resume. Today, the research team studies the role that cancer stem cells play in the formation and growth of cancer and in relapse after treatment. The purpose of their research is to refine cancer diagnoses and to target treatments to different types of cancer.

 

In 2008, Professor Blanpain received a grant of € 320 000 from Foundation against cancer to continue his work for four years. In 2010, his team received an additional grant of € 336 000 for the purchase of a confocal microscope. That is an extremely precise microscope now available to researchers at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Without this microscope, Professor Blanpain could not have done half of his experiments.

After Brussels was linked to terror plots, the international media portrayed the city as a warzone. visit.brussels, the Brussels tourist board, wanted to change this perception with an honest answer. We launched call.brussels and gave locals the opportunity to tell them how life really is in the city.

In Belgium, consumers can pay for their purchases at connected retailers using the Payconiq app, based on their geolocation. To make consumers in Belgium more aware of Payconiq, Glasnost established partnerships with four Belgian influencers and the Belgian website, Newsmonkey.be.
