Spring/PostNL - Global rebranding & identity

In 2001, three of the largest postal providers in the world joined forces and Spring Global Mail was born. It soon established itself as the largest independent mail provider in the market before becoming fully part of the PostNL Group in 2013. Spring handles international deliveries across 190 countries and with offices in 13 countries they connect 3 continents.

Now in 2015, Spring was facing the challenge to update its brand position, story and identity. The brand refreshment project involved 13 countries with Spring offices and a close collaboration with the Corporate Communications team of PostNL.

the New Spring

Our team then conducted interviews with the various countries to grasp the contextual differences in which the brand operates. We spoke with clients as well to understand how they experience working with Spring and learn about the company’s competitive advantages.

A critical workshop was conducted with the entire Central Management Team: we successfully redefined the solution-oriented business they are in, the workshop crystallised the company culture and uniqueness, we unveiled the innate Spring brand values and identity to sustain the new business proposition and culture.

The new tagline “Global Delivery Solutions” makes clear what Spring has to offer today and tomorrow. It clarifies the international context the company operates in, the business of cross border delivery, and their solution oriented approach. The accompanying new visual identity evokes the new business strategy along with the unique culture that makes Spring stand out. 

Introducing the brand to the world

A Brand Book was designed to introduce the new brand identity, story and values to all of the employees. The book was supported with a new brand movie, which brought the new Spring to life. 

We help Spring with the implementation of the brand across its organisation and bring the identity to life in all the communication and marketing tools.

The end result? A refreshed brand with supporting values that fully represents Spring’s ambition and position: to be the company that listens, inspires and delivers.

BASE Company - Brand strategy & visual identity

Imagine you are the 3th largest telecom provider of the country, with well-known consumer brands, but still nobody has ever heard of you. The need for a complete brand overhaul emerged. The struggle with its name was only one aspect. The almost anonymous company was looking to become better known, be more recognized, and to revive a once vibrant company culture. Over the course of just 3 months, we helped an imperceptible company transform into a lively brand, blending the best of its roots with its future ambitions.

Brand naming analysis

KPNGB was looking for a different name. We performed an analysis of how different that could be. Studying the company’s history, future business strategy, brand portfolio, and interviewing people old and new at the company, we outlined the strengths and weaknesses for the various naming options.

A new Brand, Corporate Values & Culture

During a workshop with the whole board we carefully put together the values that capture the company’s spirit. The new values & culture foundations were then made tangible in a carefully designed and evocative Manifesto.

A new name was born: BASE Company. The new name was the balanced choice to capitalize on the well-known consumer brand, whilst maintaining a corporate entity, and embed several of the new culture values. The ‘company’ word however was loaded with an important human twist, i.e. as a fellowship: “You’re in good company with BASE Company.” The new visual identity followed the earlier chosen balance, creating a new version of the known consumer brand logo, enriched with a humane, handwritten ‘Company’ underneath.

Over the course of the following two years, we continued collaborating on a broad set of brand & communication projects, where we helped grow the BASE Company brand culture.

Flowtrack is an established travel agency specialised in sports travel. They were facing the challenge to grow their direct business and bring clarity in their offering. We created a new brand positioning that resonated the sports vibe, without a competitive connotation. Flowtrack is a brand that offers discoveries, that inspires to delight life and sparkles positive energy. The new strategy also delivered a unified brand architecture for Flowtrack's offering.

The visual identity takes you off the beaten tracks and the new brand invitation to "Destination Feelgood" gives fresh energy to this ambitious and gifted company.
